What an incredible time of the year. The snow is falling here in the northern hemisphere and there is a heightened level of excitement around HORAGE as we gear up for the holidays.
The excitement as most of you already know is due to the reasoning for this forum and that is your tourbillon. Finally after months of sampling we have a first glance at the tourbillon and the colours that will be made available in our up coming pre-order.
The tourbillon itself is a thing of beauty and is a magnificent piece of hand craftsmanship. Just think for a moment at how a more than 60 parts, moving marvel that is the flying tourbillon can weigh under 0.5 grams. Some incredible engineering to say the least especially when you consider the detailed polished finishing on the tourbillon cage.
It was an exciting day when we received the first samples. Marcella who is a specialist in watch decoration was the visionary behind the design. The smoking jacket tourbillon that adorned grandpa’s wrist was not to be considered and Marcella’s vision was to design a modern tourbillon for the next generation of watch lovers.
The concept looked forward from watch decorators of the past who handcrafted amazing works of art through incredible investments in time. Physical labour hours in Switzerland are what significantly increase a watches price and therefore we looked to a decorative machining solution. Inspiration was derived from the square tile pattern that make up the HORAGE logo. Working with varying levels of machining along with angles to optimize the way in which natural light played with the watches surface we were able to achieve a rich, modern look.
Marcella, naturally wanted to be there to see the first watches first hand. Below she views the grey tourbillon inside a test case with a complimentary index ring.
The below image gives you and Idea as to just how see through the semi-skeleton design of the watch is.
Now onto the colour options.
From left to right you see silver, gold, grey and blue.
Silver seen here has a fantastic brilliance to it when one can see the light dance across its surface. For those considering a case option to maximize their love of silver then 904L stainless steel would be a fitting choice.
Gold is an in-house favourite. When doing a round table it was a toss up over the gold and blue. The gold colour shows the varying levels of machining quite well and when the light hits the 30 degree beveled edges it accentuates the richness of the gold optic.
Those looking for a little more subtle look the grey colour is a slightly quieter option over silver. Grey seems to delver a no nonsense look that speaks to the technical attributes and modern design elements. Our design and engineering team loved how the jewels, main spring and tourbillon seemed to pop within the grey metal bones of this spectacular watch.
Last but definitely not leas is our deep blue colour. This colour is extremely special not just for the varying levels of blue, but the process to achieve this is completely different than the other three colours. Due to the PVD process needed to produce this colour we considered not offering it at all as the cost to make this amazing blue was significantly higher. Rather than let our blue watch lovers down we will offer a special upgrade option to those that desire this truly unique and rare blue.

The updates coming so much faster of late is very exciting, as is seeing the assembled prototype movement. Nice thing to read as I'm relaxing on Christmas Eve. Speaking of which, Merry Christmas to all.
Re. color, I like the idea of grey, but it's hard to tell what shade of grey you're using. The photo with the test crown shows a fairly dark shade, but in the other photos it's hard to distinguish from silver. In general I'm a fan of medium and dark greys, starting say about the shade of the "Publish" button I'm about to hit on this post.
I must say that looking at the picture of Marcella holding the Grey gives a whole new understanding of the design and colors. I suggest you assemble all four and take and post genuine photos of the front and back of each. I suggest this as the model grey does not compare to its beauty in the actual photograph. Ironically even the chapter ring looks good on it. Congratulations and more photos please!

I just discovered Horage this week but am already a huge fan - and with this project is particularly exciting to see come together.

Will the certification be a COSC or an OC+ ?
Well, until this minute, I thought I was going to prefer the blue, but seeing these pictures, I find that both the blue and the gold distract attention from the main event, the mechanism. I will have a hard time deciding between silver and grey, but on the basis of these pictures, that will be the decision I have to make.
