We hope all are keeping well during this challenging time. Every storm eventually comes to an end and ensures we are better prepared for the next ones to come.
The Tourbillon 1 development continues and this week we would like to share with you the packaging we have for the tourbillon.
With sustainability top of mind we have opted for a bamboo box. Bamboo is a grass that grows quickly, its renewable and extremely strong. Additionally it is lightweight and this attribute aligns well with the touribllon. HORAGE has decided upon bamboo as many within the Swiss watch industry still utilize unsustainable rare woods from around the world. Our industry is greatly influential on the lifestyle choices of its community and a focus on sustainable packaging is needed for us all to ensure we can enjoy todays luxuries tomorrow.
The boxes top is adorned with a mother of pearl H that is inlayed into the bamboo making it flush with the surface. Mother of pearl inlays are done by hand and this makes each piece truly unique. The subtle detail of the H gives the box a very rich look to the exterior.
Closing the box returns a very satisfying sound and feel of quality.
The interior is finished with a dark rust coloured ultra fine French suede bed that is plush and almost silk like to the touch. When you are not wearing your tourbillon the packaging can be repurposed for other watches or fine objects you would like to keep the utmost care of.
When shipped to you the bamboo box sits snugly inside a perfectly matched Horage box. This exterior packaging is then placed in the couriers packaging and this combination ensure the bamboo box arrives to you flawlessly. Many repurpose the HORAGE boxes for keeping small desktop items like pens, paperclips, etc.
We welcome your feedback and look forward to your comments.
Until next time…

Thumbs up for using sustainable materials for the packaging! But personally I am not too sure about the color combination... dark brown paper box, yellowish light brown bamboo inner box, and soil/yellowish suede... hum I don't know... perhaps use the same color or similar color tones so the whole packaging looks more coherent? Or use light grey suede to match the pearl H?
From the same Bamboo artist I have a box with a secret locking mechanism... This thing can drive you crazy if you don't know how to open it ;-) Great material and workmanship
