We’re leaving it up to you! Vote for the best three out of six dial colours
The recent Tourbillon 1 allowed buyers to choose case materials, dial grid colours, straps and more, bringing a seemingly endless amount of possible combinations. With SUPERSEDE, supporters will have multiple options as well. As we approach preorders in November, however, we have to narrow things down a bit. Dial colours alone can really change the appearance and mood of a watch, and we’re leaving it up to the watch community to decide the best three out of six colours to go into production.
Good things come in threes
We’re fans of every colour and wish we could offer them all, but to keep our costs in check and production streamlined (and final prices as accessible as possible), we have to stop at three. The six colours to vote on are 12:00 (white), 24:00 (black), Jet Stream (grey), Boreal (green), Atoll (light blue), and Transatlantic (dark blue). Yeah, it’s a tough decision, but who better to narrow this down than you, our discriminating watch enthusiasts. There are a couple of dial elements that won’t change, however, based on the final colours. The local hour and minute hands are easily differentiated with white Super-LumiNova® inserts and a silver diamond cut finish. The home hand is skeletonized, void of luminous and slaved to the orange day/night indicator hand that glows a bright green thanks to X1 Swiss Super LumiNova®. This combination really discerns the dual time legibility from one another. The seconds hand stretches out to the seconds track and is finished in orange to fall in sync with the day/night indicator. The applied, faceted silver indices will also have white Super-LumiNova® (all lume will have a green glow).
A clean, uncluttered dial with four complications
SUPERSEDE with the new K2 micro-rotor movement is a GMT “all terrain” sports watch with four complications. All dial colours have a matte finish to keep things from getting busy and allow the dial elements to remain prominent. You’ll also notice that the date complication at 3 o’clock has a white background in lieu of a dial matching colour. This was a deliberate choice to keep everything balanced and allow it to pop a bit, rather than create a heavier feel on that side. The colour match date wheel can become a controversial topic, but our designers have really weighed in on the look they were going for and decided to go with a light and simple solution. The day/night indicator sits at 9 o’clock and will always have black for night and white for day, each of the optional dial colours as well. The power reserve indicator is at 12 o’clock. There’s a lot going on with four complications, but the dial has a calm and almost simple vibe to it. The matte colour palette and lack of texture definitely play a role.
First prototype of the 24:00 black dial has arrived 🤩. A quick iphone photo of it sat on top of the K2 main plate. We will share more in a future update when they arrive.
There’s meaning behind the colours
The six colours weren’t arbitrarily picked. There’s a travel theme that starts with the dark blue Transatlantic that recalls the world’s oceans. Then there’s the grey Jet Stream that symbolizes the strong air currents circling the globe. Green Boreal is meant to evoke images of land and forests, while the light blue Atoll is like a distant paradise or tropical waters. That last two colours, 12:00 white and 24:00 black, are for day and night. With 24 global time zones, it’s always day and night somewhere and the GMT hand allows you to track time in multiple places in concert with the day/night indicator.

It looks like you've used the orange day/night hand color in the power reserve on the prototype dial. Good choice! No need to add the red used in the renderings -- all orange accents!
Great picture of the dial prototype, but I'm still a little confused as how you are supposed to see the GMT hand in the dark. I know you have said that 24hr indicator is lumed but that is useless if you cannot see the actual GMT hand.
